The Tin Drum by Guenther Grass tells the story of Gdańsk before and during World War II. The fates of Poles, Germans, and Kashubians intertwine, creating a backdrop for a story about growing up in the shadow of History. A boy, Oskar Matzerath, does not want to grow and beats a tin drum to protest against the world of adults.
In the theater adaptation, the plot moves to a toy store. For the first time in the history of a musical, the main character is a puppet, animated by an actress. And since Oskar is also a born showman (drum!), we have a “vaudeville” – a spectacular show with elements of farce and revue.
A daring, masterfully made, brilliant, and deeply thought-out musical adaptation of a famous novel.

The wealth of staging concepts is bewildering. A great triumph of art.
